Fast inter mode decision algorithm for HEVC based on motion features

Abstract: The coding complexity in High Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC) increases greatly owing to the adoption of quadtree structure, aiming at the problem, a fast algorithm for inter mode decision based on motion features is proposed.?Firstly, for Coding Unit (CU) at different motion areas, it utilizes depth correlation between the curren CU and the adjacent CU?in the spatio-temporal to reduce the current CU depth traversal range. Then, according to the similarity at spatial partition of the PU mode, among the current CU, the adjacent CU in the spatio-temporal and the previous depth CU, it reduces Prediction Unit (PU) mode traversal range for accelerating inter prediction process. The experimental results demonstrate that compared with HM16.9, at different access ways, the proposed algorithm can reduce about 54% coding time on average and ensure the output bit rate is less increased.

摘要: 针对高性能视频编码采用四叉树结构大大增加了编码复杂度的问题,提出了一种基于运动特性的帧间模式快速决策算法。首先,对不同运动区域下的编码单元(Coding Unit,CU)块,利用当前CU与空时域相邻CU深度相关性减少当前CU深度的遍历范围;然后,依据当前CU与其时空域相邻CU及上一深度CU对应的预测单元(Prediction Unit,PU)在空间划分上的相似性,减少PU模式的遍历范围,加速帧间预测过程。实验结果表明,相比于HM16.9,在不同编码接入方式下该算法可平均降低54%左右的编码时间,且输出比特率增加较少。
