Numerical simulation of car-following model considering preceding vehicle’s acceleration

Abstract: In order to improve the deficiency of the description of car following behavior only considering the vehicle distance in the Optimal Velocity (OV) model, an improved OV model is proposed by taking the effect of the preceding vehicle’s acceleration information on the car-following behavior of the following vehicle into account. Through the linear stability analysis of the model using the small vibration amplitude disturbance method, the stability condition of the improved OV model is obtained. The numerical simulation of the model is conducted. The results show that compared with the traditional OV model, the improved OV model can significantly enhance the stability region of the traffic flow after taking the impact of the acceleration information of the preceding vehicle into consideration, and it can suppress the traffic jam effectively.

摘要: 为了改进最优速度(OV)跟驰模型只考虑车间距因素对车辆跟驰行为影响的不足,在考虑前导车加速度信息对后车跟驰行为影响的基础上,提出了一种改进OV跟驰模型。并利用小振幅扰动法对模型进行了线性稳定性分析,得到了模型的稳定性条件,对改进OV模型进行了数值模拟。仿真结果表明,与传统OV模型相比,考虑前导车加速度信息对跟驰车的影响后,交通流的稳定区域显著增加,改进OV模型能有效抑制交通流的堵塞。
