Influences of input modeling on simulation of airport baggage handling system

Abstract: During the design and optimization of the airport baggage handling system, in order to prevent the decision analysis being misled by incorrect simulation results because of unreasonable choices of input modeling methods and unnecessary cost increase, different input models varying in the fidelity or level of detail of arrival trigger patterns, arrival rate, accompanying information and so on are built and simulation experiments are carried out under different task levels. Influences on the accuracy of system performance metrics with different modeling methods are quantitatively compared and the reasons are analyzed. The results show that the arrival trigger patterns and modeling methods of each airplane’s departure moment are the main factors that impact the arriving rate uniformity and simulation accuracy. Suggestions on modeling method selection are put forward according to the availability of input data, specific simulation objectives and influences of input modeling on simulation accuracy and costs. Misguidance of incorrect simulation results and too high costs are avoided.

摘要: 在机场行李处理系统的设计和优化中,为避免不合理的输入建模方式选择导致仿真结果不准确而误导了决策分析并产生不必要的成本增加,构建了在触发方式、到达速率、携带信息等方面逼真或详细程度不同的外部到达输入模型,并在不同任务量水平下进行仿真实验对比研究;给出了不同建模方式对系统绩效指标准确性影响的定量对比结果并分析了原因。实验结果表明,行李到达的触发方式和各航班起飞时刻的建模方式是影响行李到达速率均衡性和仿真结果准确性的主要因素;根据输入数据的可得情况、仿真的具体应用目标以及输入建模方式对仿真结果准确性和成本的影响,针对建模方式的选择和仿真结果分析提出了建议,避免了被不准确的仿真结果误导以及造成不必要的建模与仿真成本的增加。
