Abstract: Carrier and symbol timing synchronization is the key factor which can affact the performance of OFDM system greatly. In this paper, an improved symbol timing synchronization solution of Schmidl&Cox algorithm for IEEE 802. 11a is introduced. As for the improved solution here, the structure of the long training symbol in IEEE 802. 11a’s frame is changed, and with the use of time delay autocorrelation, the plateau of the timing metric of Schmidl&Cox method is eliminated. The solution proposed in this paper significantly improves the accuracy of symbol timing synchronization in OFDM system. The FPGA design of the baseband system of IEEE 802.11a using system generator in simulink development enviroment is given in part 3, and the whole design can successfully satisfy the function requirement of the system very well.

摘要: 载波和符号定时同步是影响OFDM系统性能好坏的关键因素。针对IEEE 802.11a协议,提出了Schmidl&Cox同步算法的改进方案,该方案通过改进协议帧中长训练序列的结构,用延时自相关方法消除Schmidl&Cox算法产生的峰值平台,大大提高了符号定时同步的准确性。在Simulink环境下,用system generator实现了IEEE 802.11a基带系统的FPGA设计,整个设计能很好地满足系统功能要求。
