Image retrieval based on color and texture features

Abstract: A novel image retrieval method based on color and texture feature is proposed.Based on the quantization of the color in HSV model,color histogram is introduced as the color feature.Then,the quantization results are classified into different status and the transition probability matrix is presented to describe the texture feature.After that,color relative entropy is given as a texture descriptor based on entropy theory and the state relative histogram.Finally the color histogram and color relative entropy are combined together as an index for image retrieval.Experimental results show that the new method is efficient and it provides noticeable improvement to the performance of image retrieval.

摘要: 提出了一种基于颜色和纹理特征的图像检索方法。在对HSV颜色模型量化处理的基础上,提取颜色直方图作为图像的颜色特征。在提取纹理特征时,结合颜色量化结果,设计了反映图像纹理变化的状态转移概率矩阵,在此基础上,提出采用颜色相关熵来描述图像的纹理特征。由于综合利用了图像的颜色及纹理特征,实验结果表明,该方法取得了较好的检索效果。
