Application of forward-backward averaging covariance matrix estimation in radar array

雷达阵列中前后向平滑协方差矩阵估计应用

Abstract: In the radar array signal processing for DOA estimation,it is an important object to make the method more easy and keep the performance well at the same time.When contacting the forward-backward averaging algorithm,which is used for covariance matrix estimation,with beamspace array signal processing,the complex computation will be replaced by real computation.The two methods are developped according to odd or even dimension.To compare the new algrithm with classic forward averaging estimation in beamspace.The result shows that the computing load is reduced to 50%.

摘要: 在雷达阵列中的DOA估计中,在保证性能前提下实现算法简化,一直是人们追求的目标。前后向平滑是阵列信号处理中协方差估计的一种算法,而当该算法应用于波束空间的阵列信号处理时,可以用实数运算代替复数运算,从而减少运算量。分别介绍了奇数和偶数维条件下,算法的实现方法,并分析了相应的运算量同各个参数的关系。同传统前向平滑比较表明,该算法可以减少50%左右的运算量。
