Segmentation of touching symbols in typeset mathematical expressions based on profile characteristic

基于轮廓特征的印刷公式粘连符号的切分

Abstract: During recognition of typeset mathematical expressions,touching symbols cannot be segmented accurately that is one of the main reasons for false recognition.To solve this problem,a method which is using profile characteristic is put forward for the segmentation of touching symbols in mathematical expressions.According to partitioning paths constructed by profile characteristic and the ratio of the width and the height,and then touching symbols are segmented.Experimental results indicate the effectiveness on the accuracy improvement of mathematical expression recognition.

摘要: 在印刷体数学公式识别中,不能准确地切分粘连符号是造成识别错误的主要原因之一。针对这种情况,提出了一种基于轮廓特征切分粘连符号的方法。根据轮廓特征及宽高比形成切分路径,然后对粘连字符切分。实验表明,这种方法使识别率得到了明显提高。
