Abstract: How to overcome the overlap and inter-signal inteference between transmitted signals is the key issue to be addressed by signal detection technique of MIMO systems. The performance of signal detection algorithms is the key factor determining if MIMO technology can be of practical application. Combining the high performance of MLD algorithm and the low computational complexity of MMSE-SIC algorithm, this paper proposes an improved hybrid adaptive detection algorithm based on the channel’s maximum/minimum eigenvalues. By redefining the adaptive coefficients and with the characteristics of the channel’s matrix eigenvalues, the algorithm can adaptively control the percentage of data stream detection by three sub-hybrid-algorithms, to achieve higher detection efficiency. The simulation results show that, with greatly improved computational complexity, the algorithm yields almost the same bit error ratio as that of the MLD algorithm, for signal channel in complex environments.
