Abstract: Smoothing functions play an important role in Support Vector Machines（SVMs）.Using the technique of interpolation functions，Xiong et al. developed a recursive formula.This paper derives the expression of such 1st-order smooth functions using the recursive formula.It offered a detailed analysis of its approximation accuracy.The results show that its approximation accuracy is competitive compared to previously used smooth functions，which provide the better theory support for studying the SVM.
