Abstract: Personality, a psychological structure, aims to explain human behavior via different situations with fewer stable and measurable individual characteristics. In the past, the common way to measure personality is varied kind of standard psychological tests. But owing to the difficulty of large-scale measuring, the usable range of standard psychological tests is limited. Thanks to the rapidly development of technology, the flourishing of social media, a series of new computing methods are applied to deduce personality, which brings about a new area named personality computing. Targeting at effectively inducing individual personality, this area mainly utilizes cues left by social media users. Undoubtedly, the employment of personality computing has shed great influence on artificial medicine, characterized service and so on. Therefore, by analyzing the studies of personality computing published in this decade, this paper aims to clarify the current development situation, insufficient research and future research direction of personality computing.
