Abstract: In this paper，the present situation of information technology’s application in evaluation of urban ecological environment quality is introduced，which indicates that the application of WebGIS in the on-line publishing and sharing of city ecological environment quality information is necessary.The function requirement，data organization，construction of model database，system design and development technology in the WebGIS-based information system for the ecological environment quality are also discussed，which is based on the open source software and include four function modules named as system management and maintenance，data publishing and sharing，environment quality analysis and evaluation，data output，respectively.The information system can be used for the on-line publishing and sharing.And the system function is also demonstrated by the application examples.
