Abstract: Based on the region growing(SRG) algorithm, how to select the correct seed location automatically is one of the major problems for text segmentation. Horizontal lines of the image bar are extracted through an edge detector. The statistical distribution of the pixels in saturation and intensity is done. This paper extracts the pure baselines using Otsu method, sets the baselines as the seed location, and extracts the Uyghur text from the color bar image using the law of growth. The algorithm is tested in four different types of background. Experiments show that this algorithm has 72.31% Character Extract Rate(CER) in flower background.

摘要: 如何自动选取种子点的位置是基于区域生长法分割文字的关键问题。该算法通过横向线段检测算子提取出文字条中所有的横向线段;统计线段在饱和度、亮度上像素点的分布,根据统计分布使用Otsu法提取出纯净的文字基线,将它作为区域生长种子点的位置;通过生长法则分割文字。实验在四类不同的背景集中测试算法,其中花卉测试集的字母提取率达到72.31%。
