Energy consumption comparative study on transport protocols based on NS2

基于NS2的传输协议的能耗对比研究

Abstract: Communication subsystem contributes much to the energy consumption of embedded device. Though TCP protocols are widely used in the wire or wireless communication system, the traditional TCP protocol can not satisfy the requirement of energy-saving from users. In the respect of energy overhead, compared different protocols, such as standard TCP, XCP which based on TCP, RBUDP and UDT which based on UDP. It analyzes how congestion control influences energy consumption. The experiment is conducted on the platform of NS2, it analyzes the results and concludes that the RBUDP performs best in the high speed dedicated link, and XCP has the best energy efficiency in the shared link.

摘要: 如今嵌入式设备上的数据交互越来越频繁,其通讯子系统的能耗也随之增加。在有线或无线的通讯环境中,TCP协议运用最为广泛,但传统的TCP协议并不能满足用户的节能需求。从能耗角度对比了标准TCP协议、基于TCP协议改进的XCP协议、基于UDP协议改进的Reliable Blast UDP(RBUDP)和UDP-based Data Transport(UDT)协议,进一步分析各协议的拥塞控制策略对能耗的影响。利用ns-2平台进行仿真实验,分析仿真结果,得出在专享高速链路中,RBUDP能耗最低,在共享链路情况下XCP协议性能最优,能耗最低。
