Error Concealment Method for H.264 Video

Abstract: In this paper, we discuss several error concealment techniques for H.264 coded picture. A new method is proposed. Different techniques are used for Intra and Inter frames according to the smoothness and the motion characters of the region. The smoothness of the blocks is calculated by the histogram of the blocks. For Inter frame, the MV and the modes of adjacent macroblocks in the missing frame and multi-reference frames are used to determine the method of temporal error concealment. For Intra frame, we adaptively select the spatial error concealment modes between bilinear interpolation and directional interpolation. Experimental results show that our method has better recovery result than conventional approach, which can improve the video quality obviously.

摘要: 本文提出一种基于H.264的误码隐藏技术,能够在高误码环境下有效地实现误码掩盖,提高恢复视频质量。该方法利用H.264标准的新特性, 根据图像直方图信息计算图象的光滑特性和运动剧烈程度,对帧内和帧间图像的误码采用不同的策略。对于帧间编码帧,根据不同大小块编码类型和多参考帧的特性,能够更准确地估计出丢失的MV,从而进行时域掩盖。对于帧内编码帧,自适应选择空间插值方法,使恢复图像质量更好。实验表明,本算法恢复图像质量比传统的时空误码掩盖方法具有更好的视觉恢复质量。
