Real-time simulation of rain and snow in multi-channel system based on texture scrolling technology

Abstract: Multi-channel technology is an important part of the real-time three-dimensional system.Simulation of rain and snow in multi-channel system requires high performance and synchronization between channels.A new algorithm is proposed based on the analysis of traditional methods of particle system.The basic idea of the algorithm is to scroll the rain and snow texture tiled on multiple cylindrical surfaces whose center is the view point,and to provide a three-dimensional sense of parallax based on the surfaces’ different depth.Experimental results indicate that the new solution produces realistic visual effect on multi-channel system and meets the requirements of both real-time and inter-channel synchronization.

摘要: 多通道技术是目前三维图形实时生成系统的一个重要发展方向,在多通道系统中模拟三维雨雪对实时性和通道间同步性有着较高的要求。在分析传统粒子系统生成方法的基础上,提出一种基于纹理滚动技术的雨雪模拟算法。基本思想是建立以视点为中心的多层圆柱面,以此为载体滚动雨雪纹理,并根据多层圆柱面间的深度差实现具有立体感的视差效果。实验证明,该方法能够生成逼真的视觉效果,并能较好地满足多通道系统的实时和通道间同步要求。
